Physician/Hospital Integration
Despite the integration mistakes made by many hospitals and physicians in the past, there is a natural synergy available for those who learn to work together successfully. Regardless of the contractual relationship, a compelling vision that is shared by the parties, a focus on quality clinical care and caring, efforts to improve productivity and efficiency, and a culture of accountability will ensure a successful long-term partnership.
The Halley Consulting Business Planning process can assist hospital executives and their physician partners (employed or affiliated) to develop the vision, reach quality standards, and achieve the productivity necessary to realize their objectives. Our planning process includes:
- Strategic Interviews with physicians, hospital executives and board members to identify strategic themes and barriers.
- Our Quantitative Analysis of the market share data and performance trends to provide the factual support for planning efforts.
- Facilitation of a Planning Team to review both quantitative and qualitative data and to prepare an analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT).
- A Planning Retreat or Planning Sessions including physician and executive leaders to review the SWOT analysis and develop strategies that will take advantage of their united strengths and opportunities, while reducing or eliminating weaknesses and threats. The planning process will also consider the supporting infrastructure necessary to achieve their strategies, including all ten areas of business administration from operational governance to finance and accounting.
- The Final Deliverables include a review by the organization’s selected legal counsel to suggest the appropriate legal structure to support the vision and strategies. A final written Business Plan documents the vision, strategies and legal/business administration structure and includes a written Quarterly Implementation Plan.
