Despite the integration mistakes made by many hospitals and physicians in the past, there is a natural synergy available for those "partners" that learn to work together successfully.  Regardless of the contractual relationship, a compelling vision that is shared by the parties, a focus on quality clinical and caring, efforts to improve productivity and efficiency, and a culture of accountability will ensure a successful long-term partnership.

The Halley Consulting Business Planning process can assist hospitals and their physician partners (employed or affiliated) to develop the vision, apply the quality, and strive for the productivity to achieve their objectives.

This process includes:

  • Strategic Interviews with physicians, hospital staff, administrators and board members;

  • Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis that develops anonymous interview themes and a review of the market share data and trends;

  • Assistance in the development of a Planning Team to review the data and help prepare for the Planning Retreat;

  • Implementation of a Planning Retreat to assess the data and develop strategies to eliminate barriers to integration.  As a final step, the group will discuss the operational implications of the integration approached envisioned by the Planning Team;

  • The Final Deliverables include a review by the appropriate legal team and development of a final written Business Plan, as well as a written Quarterly Implementation Plan.

Not only is integration a desirable goal given the growing complexity of healthcare, but we believe it is imperative in today's increasingly competitive marketplace.
